Hey Dog Lovers,
Today I talk about a different type of training, protection training. As I have previous stated my stepdad Kevin has had a Rottweiler who was trained to protect his business. Although he was also Kevin’s personal dog he was a great protector. I have comprised 5 most effective training tips you need to know.
Guard dog training tips include teaching the dog to attack and retreat on command. This can take a considerable amount of effort on your part. Personal training will allow you to discipline the dog as per your needs and requirements’.
- Begin with Teaching Obedience Commands – Sit, lie down and look when name is called, heel
- Let your dog Socialize – eliminates fear and anxiety
- Train the dog to bark and stop on command- considered to be the most efficient protection tip
- Teach the defend tactic to your dog – use a person the dog has not seen yet and have the dog bark when they see the person have them act afraid. DO NOT train to attack with a home dog.
- Teach the “Back Off” Command to your dog – Many pet owners teach basic commands such as “leave it.” So this is something that you can use when you want your dog to release the person from his hold. If the dog consistently fails to respond to the command, the chances are that he might become vicious and uncontrollable later. This means no more protection dog training.
Rottweilers, Mastiffs, Pit Bulls, and Dogo Argentinos are some of the breeds that don’t respond well to any personal protection training. Even a Chihuahua or Basset Hound will not be able to grasp the more advanced dog training techniques.
The goal is to be able to control your dog in all kinds of situations, both good and bad. So it stands to reason for me to say that you don’t need to hire professional services.
With these guard dog training tips, you can teach your dog to obey your commands. All you need to do is keep at it and have lots of patience. Try it every single day, and you will soon receive respect from your dog.
